Wren Lanier is a Product Designer based in Durham, NC. With more than 12 years experience designing software for the web, she specializes in Lean UX, product strategy, and helping startup teams validate ideas & find product-market fit.
A frequent speaker and writer on tech topics, Wren has presented at conferences including MidwestUX, HOW Interactive, GIANT Conference, and numerous local meetups. She's contributed to publications including A List Apart, The Pastry Box, net magazine, and 24 Ways.
In 2012, Wren co-founded bill conference, an unconference about making things. Based on the premise that “ideas are easy, making things is hard,” bill conference provides a safe place for people to share their creative struggles and learn from each others’ failures. The following year she helped organize TEDxGraceStreet, one of many local TED events held in conjunction with TEDCity2.0. Her work on bill conference and TEDxGraceStreet earned her a spot on Style Weekly's Top 40 Under 40 in Richmond in 2013.
In 2015, after relocating to North Carolina, Wren helped co-found Ladies that UX Durham. With over 400 members, LtUX Durham is now one of the largest UX organizations in central NC, holding monthly events that bring together women from a variety of design and technology disciplines. In 2016, Wren designed the first iteration of the Whiteboard Challenge Event for LtUX Durham.
